About

I am a self-taught international-selling artist working in acrylics, a professional member of the SAA (Supporting All Artists, formerly known as the Society of All Artists), and a tutor in this medium.

I paint landscapes: real, many from photographs on my travels, and imaginary, along with some floral works and more recently wildlife and contemporary/abstract work. It was by chance in 2006 I stumbled into the glorious world of acrylic painting (read how here) and have not looked back since. My favourite subject matter and inspiration is the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside where I live, my love of flowers and nature, along with the many beautiful places I have visited abroad.

My first large painting was entered into the Spring 2009 Winsor & Newton on-line art competition, it ranked in the top 40 from over 600 entrants.

“Snowglow”

Later sold by auction, the money raised by Snowglow was donated to help raise funds to sponsor a very special little boy with cerebral palsy through the Footsteps Foundation, a specialist unit in Oxfordshire that helps children with neurological disorders. Carrying a lot of pride along with the artwork in my suitcase, I took great delight in being able to deliver the painting in person to the purchasers in Spain. It now hangs in their apartment as a vibrant reminder of winters in chilly Britain.

In 2011, Yarm Originals Art Gallery offered to show two of my paintings. This was followed in November 2011 with the Art Gallery UK, based in Tetbury, Gloucestershire accepting three of my works. In June 2012, my first exhibition was held at the Loveahappyending Summer Audience, also in Tetbury.

In May 2018, five works were displayed at a public art exhibition in Winterbourne, South Gloucestershire which resulted in a sale and a commission. Further successful exhibitions followed in 2019 and 2021. In January 2019, I began teaching “Acrylics for Beginners” at an art group in Winterbourne and running workshops. If your art group seeks a tutor in acrylics, please do get in touch to discuss using my contact page.

I post occasional blogs on art and painting which I hope will be of interest.
